Kathleen M. Green, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 17 years of experience providing thoughtful, evidence-based care across a range of clinical settings.

I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Portland State University, specializing in children, youth, and families. My work is grounded in a deep respect for each individual’s experience, with a focus on helping clients move toward greater clarity, resilience, and lasting change.

I am continually drawn to this work by the opportunity to support individuals as they navigate complex experiences and move toward a more integrated and meaningful life.

Kathleen’s clinical background includes work in psychiatric hospitals, community-based mental health, and both the criminal and civil justice systems. She has also served as a Senior Civil Commitment Officer and worked extensively on crisis response teams, supporting individuals during periods of acute need.

Throughout her career, she has worked with at-risk children and families in foster care, individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness, and both adult and juvenile populations within the justice system.

This breadth of experience provides a nuanced and comprehensive understanding of complex emotional, relational, and systemic challenges. She brings this perspective into her work with clients, offering thoughtful, informed care grounded in both clinical depth and real-world experience.

A thoughtful path toward clarity and growth.

In her private practice in The Dalles, Oregon, Kathleen works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship challenges, and life transitions.

She brings a strong ability to build trust, rapport, and meaningful engagement, creating a space where clients feel both supported and understood. With a calm and reassuring presence, thoughtful insight, and a grounded sense of humor, she helps individuals navigate challenges and move toward clarity in determining their next steps.

Clients often describe her style as calm, thoughtful, and direct. She balances compassionate understanding with practical guidance, supporting individuals in making meaningful and sustainable change.

Kathleen takes a multidimensional approach to therapy, addressing the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of each client’s experience. Therapy is tailored to the individual, with a focus on building insight, resilience, and lasting growth.

Kathleen approaches her work with a deep respect for each individual’s experience and a genuine commitment to creating a space that feels both safe and thoughtfully guided. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate challenges, deepen understanding, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

Kathleen also provides clinical supervision for Clinical Social Work Associates (CSWAs) working toward licensure. Her supervision approach is thoughtful, supportive, and grounded in both clinical depth and real-world experience, with a focus on professional growth, ethical practice, and confidence in clinical decision-making. Supervision is tailored to each clinician’s learning style and areas of focus.

Outside of her clinical work, Kathleen values time spent in nature and with family, which supports her own sense of balance and perspective.
